The old centre of the town (Caravanserai) is
made up of a harbour, seafront promenade,
shopping bazaar, and since the 1980’s the
town has now spread in all directions to the
marina just to the north, the increasingly
steep slopes inland, the high ground to the
south and the better beach 1 ml or so
beyond. Kusadasi is a port where
many cruise ships put in and from where
there is a ferry service to several Greek
islands. It is close to some of Turkey's
most famous historic sites, including
Ephesus. The resort is enormously popular
with the British. It appeals most to those
who enjoy the crowds and lively nightlife.
